Position Summary:

People Services is a trusted partner in providing administrative support functions that allow the UCI community to focus on their core functions to accomplish the UCI mission of teaching, research, public service, and patient care. Members of People Services work in close collaboration with all three business units to meet their client's needs and expectations. People Services, is directly accountable to the Associate Chancellor/Chief HR Executive, but also has a duty to meet the service expectations of the executive director for each local HR unit. The objective of the department is to position ourselves to cultivate a strong, collaborative relationship with HR and its clients, identify opportunities for enhancing organizational effectiveness, and serve as a technical point-of-contact for assigned functional area

Uses professional employment and staffing techniques and concepts for employment, sourcing programs, and policies for the organization. Employment and search efforts are of moderate scope and complexity. Works on staffing / employment for skilled operational and technical and professional level positions. Normally receives general direction on staffing and employment assignments, with more detailed direction provided on new or more specialized and complex assignments. Exercises judgment within defined staffing and employment procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Works with internal and external contacts.

Compensation Range:

$24.23 - $49.66

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas. Working knowledge of the recruitment, screening, interviewing and referral processes. Knowledge of HR processes and forms and knows organizational and departmental principles and procedures. Knowledge of common software used within employment and other areas of HR, and how they work together. Basic knowledge of employment law. Effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as active listening and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated work experience using an on-line payroll system performing new employee hiring transactions, bi-weekly payroll reporting and changing appointment and distributions. Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.


Work experience within the University of California System.

Experience with the UC Personnel Payroll System (UC Path)

Bi-Lingual Spanish ability to communicate verbally and in written correspondence.
