Job Description Summary
The University of Pennsylvania Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (Penn ADRC) seeks a Research and Training Coordinator to coordinate the day-to-day operations for a large multi-component grant, the Aging Brain Cohort Dedicated to Diversity (ABCD2) Study. Study goals of the ABCD2 include recruiting and following a cohort of older Black/African American adults, some of whom may develop Alzheimer's Disease or a Related Dementia (ADRD) over time and providing research training and skills to Black/African American undergraduate and graduate students. The Research and Training Coordinator will work closely with the Director for Administration in overseeing all aspects of the study. The Research and Training Coordinator will also coordinate and document all aspects of the ABCD2 research training program for Black/African American undergraduate and graduate students, which is closely aligned with training provided through the Penn ADRC.

The University of Pennsylvania Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (Penn ADRC) seeks a Research and Training Coordinator to coordinate the day-to-day operations for a large multi-component grant, the Aging Brain Cohort Dedicated to Diversity (ABCD2) Study. Study goals of the ABCD2 include recruiting and following a cohort of older Black/African American adults, some of whom may develop Alzheimer's Disease or a Related Dementia (ADRD) over time and providing research training and skills to Black/African American undergraduate and graduate students.

The Research and Training Coordinator will work closely with the Director for Administration in overseeing all aspects of the study. Responsibilities for study oversight include monitoring and tracking study activities; tracking progress towards annual study milestones; coordinating and recording notes for all meetings of the ABCD2 team of investigators and staff, Steering Committee, Community Partners and annual External Advisory Committee; gathering study-related metrics and other information for reporting purposes; tracking publications resulting from the study; assisting with preparation of reports and presentations; performing literature reviews; producing tables and figures; drafting sections of manuscripts for publication and sections of grant proposals; entering and extracting data; organizing and filing research materials and submitting protocol modifications and continuing reviews to the IRB as needed.

The Research and Training Coordinator will also coordinate and document all aspects of the ABCD2 research training program for Black/African American undergraduate and graduate students, which is closely aligned with training provided through the Penn ADRC. The training component includes but is not limited to a 10-week summer internship program for Black/African American undergraduate students and a training program for graduate students enrolled in medicine, psychology and related disciplines that will be arranged to coincide with the scheduling needs of each individual student. Training curricula include core readings and lectures, regular conferences and seminars, academic and research skills training, instruction in responsible conduct of research and issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, and career and science mentoring. Key responsibilities include recruiting applicants for training opportunities by working with the communications team as well as educational and community partners to disseminate program information and coordinate the trainee application and admissions process; coordinating the day-to-day aspects of the program such as scheduling and reserving classroom and conference space, onboarding and exit procedures for trainees, preparing course materials, inviting guest lecturers, facilitating trainee and mentor connections and ensuring mentoring plans are documented and regularly updated; coordinating and documenting evaluation activities for trainees, faculty and training curricula and tracking key metrics for the research training program such as number of applicants, attendance at seminars and lectures and updates on former trainees.

Position is grant funded and continuation is contingent upon continued receipt of grant funds.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Excellent organizational and planning skills, outstanding written and oral communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility are required. Must work well as part of a team.
