The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Applicants must be ABNS certified.

Teaching responsibilities may include education of medical students, residents, and fellows, including direct oversight of the stereotactic and functional neurosurgery fellows.

Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders, movement disorders, intractable pain, and epilepsy, using surgical techniques including deep brain stimulation, stereotactic radiosurgery and focused ultrasound.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include research in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery with funding from the NIH or other federal agencies or industry.

Candidates should be nationally recognized leaders in the field with experience in developing innovative clinical programs in functional neurosurgery and in leading an NIH-funded research program. The proposed leadership role will include oversight and development of a psychiatric neurosurgery program for the Penn Medicine Health system, which includes six hospitals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as for a growing network of affiliated hospitals.
