Job Summary
Provide primary healthcare services to the Institute's students and eligible members of the Georgia Tech community. Services include examinations, diagnosis and treatment for illnesses and injuries. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: patients, Institute medical staff, parents of students in treatment. This position typically will advise and counsel: patients, Institute medical staff, parents of students in treatment.
ResponsibilitiesConduct patient examinations and diagnoses.Perform minor procedures including suturing, incision and drainage, wound care, colposcopy, minor excisions, etc.Refer patients for specialized treatment when appropriate.Provide consultative care and education to patients as appropriate.Participate in continuing medical education programs and maintain licensure.Evaluate existing health care policies, programs and services; make recommendations for improvement.Provide travel, immunization, and allergy consultations.Perform other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsEducational Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
License to practice medicine in state of Georgia; Board certification in a primary specialty, e.g. Internal Medicine or Family Practice; current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Required Experience
Two years post-residency experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
SKILLS
Treatment of general medical ambulatory care problems; oral and written communications; competencies in performance evaluation, peer review, continuing medical education, patient satisfaction reports, medical emergency response , high risk audits, infection control review, unanticipated adverse events, pain management, preceptorship, confidentiality review, mission/vision values review, right-to-know, HIPPA and multiculturalism. Microsoft Office. Preferred skills include use of electronic health records and treatment of eating disorders.
