Temporary Dental Assistant

The School of Dental Medicine on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has openings for part-time/full-time temporary Dental Assistant positions in support of the School’s response to COVID-19 and its clinical operations.  This position will be in Faculty Practice.

 

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities and duties are subject to fluctuate with little or no prior notice.  Assignments may include one or more of the following areas:

    Dental Assistant – Responsibility for providing four-handed chair side dental assistance to the undergraduate dental students and faculty, patient preparation and positioning, clinical area preparation, use of sterile techniques and performing infection control procedures.  Maintain patient data and records.  Performs and develops dental radiographs.  Dispensary – Responsibility for cleaning, decontaminating and maintenance of instruments and equipment according to established procedures and techniques.  Ensure proper functioning of equipment, clean and sanitize machines and equipment, maintain a level of sterilized instruments for distribution, issue sterile reusable instruments to operatories and clinical units, ensure the room is turned over and ready to use for the next patient, collect and resterilize used instruments, prepares specialized instruments set-ups for residents, faculty, and undergraduate students to be used during dental patient treatment.Patient/Faculty/Staff Check-In – Responsibility for asking and recording responses to screening questions, taking temperatures, ensuring compliance with mask wearing and greeting individuals upon entry to the building. Social Distancing Monitoring – Responsibility for ensuring 6-foot distancing and one-way flowing throughout the building.   Ensure entrance and exiting through appropriate locations, and monitoring elevator capacity.

QualificationsAt least one year of dental assistance experience that is relevant to the job duties as outlined above.  Flexibility and ability to adapt to constant change and direction.  Must possess current valid CPR and/or BLS certification.

Core Competencies

    Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
Acceptable candidates must be willing to wear appropriate personal protective gear as outlined in CDC/School of Dental Medicine protocols and as required for the work assigned. 

Must be willing and available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
