Position Summary:

The Director of Administration and Operations (DAO) is a key leadership position within the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center (IPRC). This position is responsible for oversight and direction of the administrative functions of the Center. In addition to administrative oversight, this position supports investigators in developing new state, federal, private and foundation contract and grant proposals, and manages the Center’s resources through integrated financial planning. This position will also support key external engagement strategies of the Center, such as the Center activities conducted in collaboration with the North Carolina Division of Public Health.

This position provides leadership of the administrative functions of UNC IPRC, including managing staff resources to ensure that reporting and other deadlines are met; developing Center-wide administrative processes and policies; creating CDC progress reports and other internal and external reports that demonstrate the productivity and impact of the Center; ensuring that pre-award and post-award processes operate smoothly and efficiently; monitoring the financial status of the Center and managing the business operations and financial functions at the Center in collaboration with shared fiscal services staff; interacting with UNC’s Office of Sponsored Research as needed; and overseeing Human Resources and Information Technology support services. As such, this position manages a suite of IPRC-internal and IPRC-external resources in a manner that maximizes the Center’s productivity and public health impact.

Educational Requirements:

Master’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience or Bachelor degree and at least ten years of relevant experience.

Qualifications and Experience:

Significant experience in budgeting, Human Resources and Research Administration required, preferably in a research-based environment.
