DescriptionTheAssistant Director of Finance and Grant Management, under the direction ofsenior management, is responsible for managing, planning and supervisingworkflow and daily operations related to research processes within the Schoolof Dentistry.  The incumbent will work directly with PIs andadministrators to monitor and ensure compliance and efficiency of grantactivity, fiscal resources and controls.

 

Primaryresponsibilities include: assisting in the development and implementation ofgoals and procedures related to research activities; reviewing and approvingproposals, in the eRA system, to ensure that information is in compliance withsponsor guidelines as well as with internal policies and procedures; assistingwith proposal submissions and serving as liaison to the central GrantsManagement office; reviewing and approving post-award budgets; communicatingfinancial information to the school finance office and central research office;submitting payroll forms to adjust research efforts on grants; assisting in thepreparation and submission of IRB documentation; purchasing orders through TUMarketplace and assisting PIs with related clinical trials and complianceissues of laboratories.  Secondary responsibilities include assisting withall aspects of the Master’s program and assisting in the management of dailyclinical operations, facilities and insurance. In addition, the Assistant Directorwill also collaborate with senior management in the preparation and reportingof Kornberg monthly financial statements and other finance related projectsupon request, and will manage the implementation and renewal tracking of allKornberg contracts. Perform other administrative and financial managementsupport or projects for the school as assigned. Performs other duties asassigned.

 

Educationand Experience:

Bachelor’sdegree in accounting, finance or another related field, and at least five yearsof experience with contracts management; clinical trials and/or grantsadministration.  An equivalent combination of education and experience isrequired.

 

RequiredSkills and Abilities:

*Ability touse grants.gov and other electronic proposal routing systems.

*Excellentproject management skills with experience in managing and supervisingadministrative projects.

*Demonstratedability to utilize online financial systems.

*Demonstratedability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and process large amounts ofinformation.

*Experiencewith basic financial management skills including developing and monitoringbudgets and financial reporting.

*Experiencewith and knowledge of contracts.

*Knowledgeof applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.

*Demonstratedstrong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

*Ability towork with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.

*Demonstratedcomputer skills, and advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, includingadvanced Excel functions and database software skills. 
*Ability to work as a member of the school’s research team.

*Strongverbal and written communication skills.

*Strongattention to detail and sound judgment.

*Excellentorganization and interpersonal skills.

*Excellentcustomer service skills and demonstrated ability to calmly handle variousissues that may arise.

 

Preferred:

*Grantsexperience within a higher education, hospital or dental setting.

*Strongunderstanding of Research Administration.
