Academic Advisor IIJob Description:
Responsible for advisement of undergraduate students in CISE. Responsible for program development and advisement/counseling for undergraduate students. Assist in the drop/add process. Handle correspondence, telephone calls, and mail. Respond to inquiries from enrolled and prospective students concerning academic programs of study.
Cooperate with other academic support personnel in developing and maintaining electronic databases and files concerning undergraduate student records, course offerings, graduation rates, and alumni information. Provide information as directed by the Chair.
Act as liaison to the Engineering Student Services Office. Coordinate necessary departmental efforts in conjunction with programs from that office, such as department tours, department participation in engineering summer programs for pre-college students, tutoring schedule, and all other such programs offered by the student services office.
Provide information regarding courses taught by the CISE department. Assist with companies interested in creating mentor/early identification programs with students of the department. Help coordinate and implement such programs.
Assist in compiling and analyzing statistical data reports concerned with CISE undergraduate enrollments, retention, and other related data. Responsible for planning and implementation of departmental student events and programs. Coordination of CIST/Industry Internship and co-op placement programs.
Attend departmental curriculum committee meetings. Represent the department at University events as requested by the Chair.Expected Salary:
$45,000 - $50,000 annually; commensurate with qualifications and experienceMinimum Requirements:
Master's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility and two years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science preferred.
- Experience in advising and counseling students at the undergraduate level preferred.
- Experience in developing and maintaining electronic databases preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of University of Florida regulations and procedures to facilitate recruitment and student counseling preferred.
