The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the Lab of Prof. Steven Caliari.
We are seeking candidates to work on our recently funded NIH projects in the areas of biomaterial design, disease mechanobiology, and musculoskeletal tissue engineering. The successful candidate will develop skills in these areas while also writing papers/proposals and presenting their research at meetings. The highest standards of ethics and laboratory safety will be expected at all times.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical or Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is required by the start date. The applicant should have a strong writing ability as evidenced by prior peer-reviewed publications and grant/fellowship applications.
Experience in biomaterials and tissue engineering with complementary expertise in areas such as polymer synthesis/chemistry, immunology, or microfabrication is preferred. The researcher in this position will work with both graduate and undergraduate students, so preference will be given to candidates who also have experience mentoring students.
