Senior Communications Manager

Position SummaryThe purpose of this position is to direct strategic communication development, support, and oversight to the unit in order to effectively communicate important information to key stakeholder groups, in a way that aligns with the University's mission, initiatives and central communication strategies. This includes, but is not limited to, crisis communication support, communication support for unit executives in order to best represent the unit internally and externally to the university, collaboration and support with other campus units and providing communications consulting, and project communication support.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in English, journalism, public relations, marketing, telecommunications or communications, or a related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in news media or media relations or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Five to seven years experience directing a communications operation in a large complex organization; and working knowledge of human resource laws and regulations.
