Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, and working in a high volume, high complexity organizational setting, the Alumni Programs Assistant Director will oversee the university’s alumni engagement efforts for the Broad College of Business, keeping in mind the ‘advancement’ potential for alumni. The Alumni Programs Assistant Director will be responsible for developing a strategic framework for engagement and discovery of different alumni groups in key markets under the guidance of Broad Advancement leadership, and in collaboration with development and department colleagues, as well as units across campus. The Alumni Programs Assistant Director will develop the strategies and programs necessary to ensure high return on alumni engagement and investment of university resources by providing analysis and recommendations to the decision-makers on prioritization of alumni markets and engagement, with a focus on fundraising potential. The Alumni Programs Assistant Director will be responsible for establishing and building relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, to advance the goals of the Broad College of Business and Michigan State University. Perform other duties as needed.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsDesired QualificationsExperience planning, coordinating and directing alumni and/or fundraising programs and/or event activities, knowledge of the key issues facing public higher education, particularly as they impact a public research university. Familiarity with ‘Moves Management’ or experience in higher education fundraising. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities. They will have exceptional work ethic, extensive experience in collaboration, and demonstrated success in working with high volume of constituents in key markets.
