Position Summary

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team of nationally and internationally recognized researchers that have a proven record of successfully mentoring the next generation of researchers – from graduates to post-docs. Research covers a broad area and includes health systems transformation, implementation sciences, the impact of stress on psychophysiological, health and performance measures, substance use disorders, and non-opioid management of pain. Other research areas concern effective means to enhance the integration of modern technologies, wireless censoring and complementary care providers in the overall care process. Job duties include a broad set of tasks related to the planning, execution, analysis and dissemination of research to professional and lay communities. The job includes literature reviews, design, implementation, data collection and analysis and co-authoring of layperson and scientific reports. The research program entails close collaboration with primary care providers, as well as secondary and tertiary healthcare organizations. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE SECCHIA CENTER, GRAND RAPIDS, MI.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in psychology, behavioral health, epidemiology, or other related areas with a key interest in multidisciplinary and community-engaged research; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent training/background in one or more of the following areas: health systems research, applied epidemiology, psychology, physiology, clinical trials, community-based interventions, including stakeholder-engaged interventions; translationary sciences, advanced statistical analysis, including modeling, e.g., structural equation modeling; experience with applying for federal grants; strong oral and written communication skills; interests in interacting with large and varied stakeholder groups; documented experience of having been a productive member of research teams.
