Position Highlights:

The department of Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona invites applicants to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The successful candidate will work with Professor David Sand on one or more projects centered on time domain astrophysics and associated survey design. Potential projects include: a) a high cadence supernova search and gravitational wave follow-up program with the newly upgraded 90Prime imager on the Kitt Peak 90-in telescope, directly tied to other Steward facilities; b) the sub-day cadence supernova search, DLT40, which is adding a third survey telescope; c) other infrastructure efforts to prepare Steward Observatory for rapid and persistent follow-up of transient events in the coming years.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Astronomical research in the area of time domain astrophysics.

Additional duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field before the commencement of the position in Summer or Fall 2021.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in time domain astrophysics and/or instrumentation is a plus.
