The Valparaiso University is seeking an Instructional Technologist/Blackboard Administrator. This position serves faculty as they work with learning management systems and the integration of technology into courses. The primary responsibility of this individual is to facilitate faculty's use and trouble-shoot any problems with Blackboard, our current Learning Management System (LMS).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical and administrative support to faculty to maximize the use of the LMS
  • Participate in the integration (planning, testing, and implementation) of new technologies including Blackboard Learn updates and third-party products
  • Serve as an escalation contact for support issues, including interactions with Blackboard Learn and other vendor support services
  • Participate on and contribute to committees, work groups, and project teams
  • Work collaboratively with deans, faculty, and other members of the instructional design

Required Skills
  • Familiarity with the self-hosted administration of Blackboard learn
  • Experience in timeline and project management and/or implementation of business and functional requirements
  • Provide high quality customer service
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution
  • At least 1 year of recent experience working in Blackboard learn
  • At least 1 year of recent experience providing technical support for Blackboard Learn (or other LMS)
  • Experience in writing and/or editing technical documentation
  • Demonstrated understanding of instructional design principles, practices, and/or theories
  • Strong emotional intelligence highlighted by patience, respect for others, trustworthiness and strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to assess learning materials with respect to cultural, racial, gender, religious, or other types of bias that might prohibit student learning
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize work, keep commitment, delegate, and manager time effectively
