The University of Miami UMHC/SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a CTU Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at Deerfield Beach satellite office. The APRN elicits patient history and performs physical examination Collects & interprets data Appropriately refers patient to other specialties & disciplines Monitors and manages medical patients. Assesses and performs symptom management as needed Initiates, monitors and alters medications and treatments within approved protocols Performs and participates with patient and family education Writes prescriptions for non-controlled substances, as indicated within established scope of practice Initiates, monitors, alters or modifies orders for patient restraints as per hospital policies & procedures. Attends to patient’s medical emergencies and communicates with physicians as needed Initiates or writes chemotherapy orders pending final approval by collaborating physicians In collaboration with Nurse Educator, provides staff education Facilitates clinical research protocols As assigned by CTU Director, facilitates CTU patient flow by daily review of medical records to ensure appropriate laboratory work ordered/resulted, chemotherapy orders entered/signed in Intellidose. Performs other activities and responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of Master in Science in Nursing with approved ARNP Curriculum

License/Certifications:

  • Valid Florida APRN license
  • Board of Nursing Board Certification as ARNP from nationally accredited organization such as American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) & American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) Oncology Certification preferred
  • Current Certification BLS/ACLS

Experience:

Minimum of one year relevant work experience
