UMHC-SCCC - Perio-Op & Surgery Center has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse 2 (RN2). The Pre-op/PACU RN 2 administers care using the nursing process to patients receiving care in the Pre-op/PACU unit. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the PACU department/patient care services as specific to the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. Demonstrates the ability to titrate intravenous medications according to the patient’s hemodynamic status. Demonstrates the ability to care for the patient with continuous cardiac monitoring including rhythm identification, interpretation and follow through with appropriate intervention. Demonstrates knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques and actions. Demonstrates the ability to care for the population served post-op patient Performs assessments and reassessments focusing on the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient in an ongoing timely, and systematic manner. Obtains baseline information utilized for the development of individualized patient plan of care. Promotes development of clinical practice based on research and evidence. Assists leadership team with maintenance of initial and ongoing unit-based clinical competencies. Administers IV contrast material, administers and/or monitors blood and blood products following hospital policy and procedures. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing intervention and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Delivers sedation and analgesia according to hospital policy and procedure. Demonstrates knowledge of commonly used meds: action, dose, and side effects. Observes five Rights for administering meds: right patient, right drug, right dose, right method, and right time. Serves as mentor and role model. Performs charge nurse duties as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

• Current/valid Florida nursing license.

• 3 years recent ICU/ER nursing experience preferred

• Strong interpersonal communication skills

• Proven track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports and key staff

• Moderate to advanced computer literacy and skills
