Mohawk Valley Community College is seeking a full-time AssociateBusiness Advisor to work in the Mohawk Valley Small Business DevelopmentCenter. The Associate Business Advisor is responsible for coordinating seminarsand workshops, strengthening the Mohawk Valley Small Business DevelopmentCenter’s relationships with the local small business community, and supportingthe Center Director and Business Advisors. Thesuccessful candidate will provide information on tools to be successful to thelocal business community with an understanding of business ownership andexperience. This position requires excellent communication skills includingnetworking and speaking to large groups. Mohawk Valley CommunityCollege and the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center are committedto the success of the local small business community, and the AssociateBusiness Advisor plays an important role in that mission, and assists theDirector in coordinating seminars, workshops, and webinars on topics ofinterest to the business community.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists business advisors in the development of business plans for client;
  • Plans and executes the Center’s social media postings and interfaces with the NY SBDC
    statewide social media team;
  • Advises clients with social media questions and provides assistance;
  • Assists in the design, development and presentation of business development workshops,
    seminars and courses that focus on the needs of clients;
  • Assists with the recruitment of SBDC clients and program participants;
  • Collaborates with partners that promote small business development;
  • Attends networking events in the community to develop and maintain strong
    collaborative relationships with funding and resource partners (representatives from
    banks, economic development agencies, and others);
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Small Business Development Center Regional
    Director.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in business-related field required; bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint with a strong attention to detail, required.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and direct mail (i.e. Constant Contact) software required.
  • Proven writing and communication skills and strong organizational skills, required.

Mohawk Valley Community College has more than 800 full-time and part-time employees at our campuses in Utica and Rome, NY. We are located in the Central New York region at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains between Syracuse and Albany, NY in Oneida County.
