Department Information This position reports to the Professional Development and Postdoctoral Services unit in the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development. The position also has close ties to the Georgia Tech Career Center. The position will primarily work with Master's and Ph.D. students from across multiple Georgia Tech colleges.
The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education & Faculty Development (VPGEFD) supports and advocates for the interests of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members through the efforts of the Office of Graduate Studies, Office of Faculty Affairs, the Professional Development and Postdoctoral Services unit, and the Center for Teaching and Learning
Job Summary
To assist students in career planning, job search strategies, networking, and related pre-professional career development skills. Provide advice and counsel to students regarding cooperative, internship, service-learning, entrepreneurial, and other experiential learning opportunities as well as career opportunities following graduation. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Students, Faculty, Alumni, and employer representatives. Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Advise and assist students in identifying co-op, internship and other experiential learning opportunities as well as post-graduation career opportunities.
Job Duty 2 -
Confer with students individually to assist them in career skill development in such areas as establishing career plans, writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and networking.
Job Duty 3 -
Coordinate and participate fully in all programs, events, and other aspects of the Georgia Tech Career Center, including trainings, outreach, center operations and employer relations.
Job Duty 4 -
Present and coordinate workshops, trainings, seminars, orientations sessions, and outreach on career related subjects
Job Duty 5 -
Develop and teach courses and seminars on career development topics
Job Duty 6 -
Update and maintain student files and maintain consistent, timely, and professional correspondence with students.
Job Duty 7 -
Operate as liaison between the Georgia Tech Career Center and assigned college or departments.
Job Duty 8 -
Collect and report data in all relevant databases and systems.
Job Duty 9 -
Create and generate annual and other reports as requested.
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience:
Five to seven years of job related experience
Overnight travel may be required a couple of times per year for conference attendance; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours is possible.

Preferred Educational Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Specialized skills preferred:
Experience working with Master's and Ph.D. students, postdoctoral scholars, and/or international students/scholars is strongly preferred. Candidate will need to have strong presentation skills, and preferably experience facilitating career development workshops or courses in person or online.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS:
This job requires advanced knowledge of cooperative education and internship program administration; academic advising and career counseling in a university setting, marketing, and participant relations. Also required are skills in customer service, data management and assessment, written and oral communication, relationship building, career related databases, systems, and other applications.
Other Information
This position will pay between $52,000-$62,000 plus full benefits.
