Organizational Unit Overview:

The College of Health and Human Performance has six units: Human Development and Family Science, Health Education and Promotion, Interior Design and Merchandising, Kinesiology, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and a School of Social Work. These academic units are responsible for teaching the courses and advising students in each unit.

The Department of Interior Design and Merchandising offers two academic programs and a variety of experiences for students. Our academic programs include a BS in Interior Design and a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Consumer Studies. The BS in Merchandising has two distinct concentrations in Fashion and the other in Interiors. All of our programs are fully accredited.

Job Duties :

Teaching. Teach undergraduate courses in three or more of the following topics: dress and culture focusing on domestic diversity, e-commerce or online fashion retailing, buying and sourcing of fashion products, and/or other related merchandising topics as needed and developed.

Research. Pursue an active research agenda in consumer behavior related field, including grant writing, publishing in refereed journals, and presentation of research to professional organizations.

General. Provide service to the university and community. Participate in the working process of TAPAC Accreditation application and the continuing development of undergraduate merchandising program. Maintain contacts and activity with professional associations and pursue connections with industries.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Ph.D. in Apparel and Textiles, or closely related field including Consumer Merchandising/Retailing Management or Fashion Merchandising is required, however, ABD candidates may be considered. Candidates with Ph.D. conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to your first reappointment. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Preferred experiences include undergraduate teaching experiences in e-commerce or online merchandising and domestic diversity of fashion culture, research in consumer behavior related area, and professional service, and/or fashion industry connections.
