Position is part-time (20-hours per week) and is calendar year, limited to 09-25-2021 with anticipated renewal.Job Description Summary:
Conduct independent research and assist with the implementation of marine research programs in support of the Ocean Observatories Initiative and Facility Board. Assist the OOI science user community by providing program information that will assist in their research.Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the OOIFB Administrative Support Office (ASO) Director, OOIFB and Committee members, federal agency representatives, OOI Program team, and scientific community.
Directly support the Principal Investigator with proposal preparation on various special projects which are supported through the grant and supplemental funding.
Provide lead support in the development of OOIFB publications, brochures, and other printed materials, and assist in graphic design and layout for OOIFB publications, registration forms, and newsletters.
Design, test, maintain, and populate OOIFB and other marine-oriented websites, databases, and exhibits.
Develop research, promotional, and outreach materials to be delivered at national science conventions and symposiums.
Provide lead support for OOIFB community outreach activities, including social media posts.
Assist the PI and OOIFB in the creation of accurate and timely reports regarding OOI user statistics and meetings for federal agency representatives, OOIFB and its committees, the OOI operators, and the broader scientific community.
Provide lead organizational support, utilizing Web-based database systems and personal computers (Windows and Macs).
Maintain and monitor OOIFB Office email systems.
Assist with the maintenance of the OOIFB archive, a central repository of OOIFB information and documents, making it readily available to the broader marine science community.
Provide researchers with an additional OOIFB point-of-contact to answer procedural questions as they relate to OOIFB sponsored activities.
OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform additional duties as requested.
LICENSES, TOOLS, and EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers, word processing, spreadsheet software, digital equipment, and software programs, including Photoshop, InDesign, and WordPress.

1.Bachelor’s degree in a marine science or marine policy field.
2.Demonstrated one year of experience in marine science or marine policy field research methods (including literature and database searches).
3.Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate data.
4.Demonstrated experience with digital and phone cameras.
5.Demonstrated experience with personal computers and graphics.
6.Demonstrated experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
7.Demonstrated experience with web content design and management.
8.Demonstrated ability to work independently.
9.Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
10.Demonstrated proficiency with written communication skills.
11.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.Environmental Conditions:
