The Program Coordinator serves as a primary resource for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, questioning and straight members of the University community and works collaboratively to support the mission of The University of Toledo.The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in retention of multicultural and LGBTQ students by developing and implementing programs and services to meet their needs. The Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the programs and services for multicultural enrichment initiatives within the office, specifically African American, Latino/Hispanic, and LGBTQA initiatives. The Coordinator is responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing educational, social, support, referral, and resource programs and services for students regarding issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. The Coordinator is expected to facilitate cross-cultural, educational workshops, programs, and initiatives that promote social justice for students; the coordinator will also facilitate diversity and leadership training for students. This position will actively participate in other initiatives within the Division of Student Affairs, as well as across the University to enhance diversity awareness/inclusivity, engagement and academic success for students.Department will start reviewing resumes in March.Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university, major in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (must have degree by spring 2021).Minimum of two years professional experience in higher education setting or working in a related field. Experience in developing and implementing programs that promote student learning about identity and difference within the context of a multicultural society. Experience working with multicultural and LGBTQ student populations preferred.Experience in advising multicultural student organizations is preferred.Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies, including campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community members.Proficiency with office technology.
- Strong listening and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.Comfortable public speaking in large and small groups.Proven organizational skill required especially in program and project management.Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, team management, and leadership skills.Ability to effectively communicate utilizing social media and other electronic communication systems.Ability to prioritize, strategically plan, work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and change of focus.
