Dean of the School of Theology & Ministry

The Academic Dean provides leadership for the faculty within his/her respective school/academic area(s) and articulates a vision for those areas that complements the vision of the College of Arts and Sciences as well as the larger university. S/he reports to the Executive Dean of the Residential Campus and works closely with the Provost and various other offices on campus. Responsibilities▪ Actively interfaces with leaders of The Wesleyan Church, local churches, denominational groups, the College of Arts and Sciences, and other constituent groups.▪ Provides a strong voice of leadership in theological and ministerial concerns as a representative of the School of Theology & Ministry and Indiana Wesleyan University.▪ Facilitates strategic vision and planning for program assessment, development, review, and closure.▪ Teaches 12 credit hours per year in the appropriate field.▪ Oversees fiscal planning and budgetary oversight.▪ Fosters a climate facilitating faculty growth and development.▪ Facilitates faculty hiring, evaluation, and mentoring.▪ Collaborates with University Advancement to promote gifting to the school(s) and the Admissions Office to promote and shape enrollment in the school(s).▪ Partners with other academic units in CAS and the wider university, the Campus Pastor, Life Calling and Career, and external constituencies to promote holistic student success.▪ Works with the regional accrediting body and relevant professional accrediting bodies as appropriate.▪ Collaborates with sister educational institutions and local/regional churches to create mutually beneficial partnerships when opportunities arise.▪ Provides formative feedback and accountability to all direct reports on a regular basis.▪ Gives academic leadership and representation to all of CAS for the areas assigned by the Executive Dean of the Residential Campus. Qualifications▪ Member in good standing of The Wesleyan Church.▪ Adaptive leader finding opportunities in times of challenge.▪ Deep commitment to the Christian faith and support of the Wesleyan theological tradition.▪ Earned terminal degree in a field represented in The School of Theology & Ministry.▪ Eligibility for the rank of professor or associate professor.▪ Demonstrated history of successful teaching and collaboration with professional colleagues.▪ Record of active scholarship, as appropriate for the respective discipline, administrative position and level of duties.▪ Current involvement in an academic discipline or professional organizations.▪ Dedication to the ideals of liberal learning.▪ Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.▪ Commitment to diversity and global engagement.
