Your opportunity:

The Acceleration Consortium will lead a revolutionary shift in scientific discovery that will accelerate technology development and commercialization. The Consortium will leverage the power of artificial intelligence, robotics, materials sciences and high-throughput quantum chemistry to create “materials acceleration platforms” or “self-driving laboratories”. These autonomous laboratories will rapidly design high-performance materials and molecules, with applications ranging from renewable energy and consumer electronics to drugs. The Consortium is a coalition of entrepreneurs, technology companies and elite researchers from top universities.

The Associate Director, Platform & Training reports directly to the Director, Acceleration Consortium.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing day-to-day operational needs for one or more labs/workshops
  • Performing lab experiments that requires great precision and attention to many details
  • Preparing, assembling and setting-up material, equipment and supplies used in teaching and/or research labs. Coordinating the installation and implementation of new equipment. Training others on the operation of instrumentation and experimental protocol
  • Training others on the operation of instrumentation and experimental protocol
  • Developing plans that support research collaborations and advance technologies. Delivering presentations at conferences.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance, and promoting the use of institute resources through industry collaborations
  • Planning components of educational programs and/or course design. Developing content for instructional workshops
  • Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects
+Essential Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Doctorate Degree in Chemistry & Chemical Biology or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience use artificial intelligence to accelerate designs of high-performance materials, with applications ranging from renewable energy to consumer electronics
  • Experience developing experimental technique to synthesize materials to energy storage
  • Experience with laboratory management and monitor accounts
  • Experience conducting and disseminating peer-reviewed scientific research
  • Experience liaising, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholder
  • Experience planning educational programs and course designs, and developing workshop
  • Experience on training on the operation of instrumentation and experimental protocol
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate on initiatives with a wide variety of contacts both internal and external to the University
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle conflicting and multiple priorities, superior organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to compile and analyze data, prepare reports and other informational materials
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills and highly attentive to details
