Reporting to the Director of Alumni Applications & Data Governance, the Associate Director, Data Management will oversee the daily operations of data management and data analytics in the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR).
The preferred candidate will have a passion for data and understand the important role it plays. We are looking for a person with superior analytical skills who can turn data into information and information into insights. S/he is talented at creating reports and dashboards that highlight key insights for stakeholders but can also communicate those findings to colleagues and management in a non-technical manner.
S/he is a self-starter, is comfortable with ambiguity, and highly capable of accessing data with varying levels of quality from multiple sources. Significant experience writing SQL queries, performing statistical analysis and using Excel at an advanced level are required. Experience with Python and Tableau is also required. Knowledge of Salesforce products including Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Community Cloud is preferred. A balanced mix of business, analytical, and technical skills is required for success in this position.
This role will identify and execute opportunities to develop business intelligence using, Excel, SQL, Python, and Tableau to provide insights about the UCLA Anderson alumni network. Additional analytics projects will focus on assessing alumni engagement campaign effectiveness. Related responsibilities will include data cleaning, deep dive analysis, reporting, and visualization of demographic and engagement data. Additional duties include sharing insights learned with staff and alumni board members.
This role will support the Director of Alumni Applications & Data Governance by recommending improvements to automated data integrations to improve data management practices and overall data quality. Duties include: developing subject matter expertise on all alumni data, identifying opportunities to improve data quality, and working cross functionally with UCLA IT departments and external vendors to develop and/or implement technology solutions to improve data quality. Related activities include: specifying requirements for business information systems, evaluating and incorporating new technology tools to improve department effectiveness, and developing criteria for solution acceptance testing.
This role will oversee all data collection activities and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of those operations. Duties include: hiring, training and managing a team including one FTE and a group of student data entry clerks, leveraging tools like Excel, SQL, and Python to redesign projects to automate procedures with a goal of increasing data accuracy and team efficiency, and developing new projects to resolve data quality issues.
