Description of Work:

The Research Technician/Lab manager in this position is responsible for:
1)mouse colony husbandry and genotyping
2)performing standardized molecular biology, tissue dissections, tissue processing, immunohistochemistry
3)general maintenance of lab equipment and lab management (i.e., ordering, tracking invoices, maintaining stocks, and keeping up-to-date lab inventories)
Previous experience with mouse husbandry, rodent procedures, molecular biology, tissue culture, confocal microscopy, and general lab management are desirable.
The candidate should be a mature and dynamic team player with keen sense of urgency and a strong interest in research, as well as excellent analytical, and oral and written communication skills. The applicant must possess good problem solving and organizational skills, be self-driven and enthusiastic, and should also demonstrate the ability to conduct experiments independently and under supervision and interact well with others.

The position is anticipated to be for a period of a year with an option to renew.

Education and Experience:

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Two years of previous experience working in cell biology lab preferred. Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry BS graduates with at least two years of prior experience in academic research are strongly preferred.
