Description of Work:Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, this position will be tasked with performing cellular and molecular biology experiments to support research projects investigating the genetic basis of psychiatric disorders (see research at www.wonlab.org). The vast majority of work will involve molecular biology work and human neural cell culture. Perform massively parallel reporter assay and transfect/transduce human neural progenitors. Strict attention to detail, record keeping, and aseptic technique are required. Additional duties will include receiving, and documenting reagents, supplies, and equipment; complying with mandated safety proposals; disposal of chemical and biohazard waste; and maintaining equipment in good working condition. Additional duties may include real-time PCR, molecular cloning, generating whole genome libraries for massively parallel sequencing; preparing buffers, solutions, and chemicals for lab experiments; data analysis and interpretation; maintaining database of experimental results; assisting with grant applications and publications; providing technical assistance in the lab, including assisting other members of the lab; and assisting with training of lab assistants and students.
Education and Experience:MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work
Preferred Qualifications: experience with molecular biology, molecular cloning, tissue/cell culture, and a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or genetics.
