Department Summary:

The mission of the Division of Research & Innovation is to assist all components of the research enterprise at the University of North
Texas Health Science Center.

Position Overview:

Under the general direction of the Associate VP for Research & Innovation, the Senior Program Manager will carry out programming related to a new ideation initiative at HSC. This will include the following responsibilities: managing a digital platform for collecting ideas for new innovations, managing a pitch competition program, tracking ideas along development pathways, connecting applicants to resources and promoting the HSC ideation initiative. In carrying out these responsibilities, the Senior Program Manager will be expected to work closely with team members, students, faculty and staff across the entire HSC campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Senior Program Manager will have a general understanding about translational research processes. They will also have a basic understanding of general business principals and how ideas become innovations. They will possess experience in facilitating innovation and/or entrepreneurship. The Senior Program Manager will be a strong, clear communicator by oral and written means and must be comfortable interacting with a wide range of professional colleagues from tenured researchers to students to entrepreneurs. They will be highly organized and have the ability to work to deadlines, and ensure with positive and polite assertiveness that others do the same. They will be comfortable developing new procedures and educating others about those processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of, and familiarity with the Fort Worth innovation ecosystem is preferred
• Preferred experience includes experience working in a startup company or some other related setting facilitating early stage investments, innovation or entrepreneurship.
• Project management experience and skills are also preferred.
• Experience hosting or planning events is preferred
• A general knowledge of intellectual property, entrepreneurship and technology commercialization is preferred.
