The Department of Pediatrics is currently seeking a Laboratory Specialist. The incumbent supports the ongoing research of the Principal Investigator. The incumbent will support the research of Sana Syed, MD, MS focusing on understanding gut structure and function in common Pediatric GI diseases using machine learning and AI methods

Responsibilities include:

Data entry and cleaning, data analysis, literature searching, learning digital slide analysis, preparing and writing grant proposals and manuscripts and, participation in conducting scientific experiments and performing technical assays; analyzing and assessing experimental results. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining lab inventories and communicating with national and international collaborators.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree ( a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related science is preferred)

Experience: Previous research experience and a 2-year commitment. Clinical/ epidemiological research work and flexibility to travel to Pakistan with the Principal Investigator is preferred. Experience gained as a student will be considered.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position can spend extended periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. It also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
