Research Assistant, Cancer Prevention and Control Program

The Cancer Prevention and Control Program is the flagship population sciences research program of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC). The Research Assistant will be a member of a research team in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program of LCCC. They will work with other research teams within the program and LCCC, and with interdisciplinary scientists, staff, and students at the university and outside institutions to advance the program and center's research missions are essential.

This is a full-time position supported by extramural research grants. The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting with multisite cancer prevention and control research studies including participant screening, recruitment, retention, data collection, data management and validation, and data cleaning and processing. They will also contribute to the development of research products, including research reports.

The employee will need to have experience assisting with clinical/community/behavioral research studies including data collection (all aspects listed above), working with investigators at multiple study sites, and maintaining schedules, phone logs, and other clerical tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail/organizational skills are essential. Ability to function as member of a team in an interdisciplinary research environment and interface with outside collaborators is also critical.


  • Bachelor's-level training in public health, social or behavioral sciences, population health, or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience as part of a research team in an academic setting is necessary (0-2 years preferred).
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills, background in data management and analysis and research protocol coordination and administration are necessary to the role.

Preferred qualifications
  • Skills in clinical trial data management and human subjects research administration system management using electronic platforms, as well as MS Office Suite, and REDCap.
