Position Highlights:

The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law seeks an Instructional Designer I for its academic programs. The instructional designer will work in a team with College faculty, subject matter experts and staff to produce and revise fully online, flipped, live online, and hybrid courses, delivering a robust learning experience for students. The candidate selected for this position must be able to collaboratively plan, organize, and develop curricula, materials and programs to meet specific program needs. This is a full-time position based in Tucson, Arizona.

Duties & Responsibilities:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate learning through instructional design, curriculum development, technology application, and assessments
  • Create distance education materials and courses to support and evaluate academic and program objectives, course design and delivery
  • Provide course design consultation to instructional staff and students
  • Participate in workshops for face-to-face, fully online, live online, flipped and hybrid delivery
  • Work to ensure course materials are current and relevant
  • Ensure course launch checklists are fulfilled on a timely basis
  • Provide D2L and instructional technology course support and assistance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment and manage projects with multiple competing priorities
  • Knowledge of integrating emerging technologies into an instructional environment
  • Familiarity with ADA compliance, accessibility issues and universal design principles
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain currency with emerging technologies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in instructional design for online courses in a higher education setting
  • Training in Quality Matters
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience with Desire2Learn
