Position Highlights:

The University of Arizona has an excellent opportunity in their Sponsored Projects & Contracting Services department for a motivated individual to begin a career in the field of university research administration. As a Sponsored Projects Administrator assigned to Proposal Services, the incumbent will be centrally positioned where University of Arizona authority resides for submission of proposals to funding agencies for support of University research, education and outreach. This position works with faculty and staff from across the University to review and submit proposals to varied external funders in areas such as space science, biomedical research, and environmental studies. To excel in this position, you must have a customer-service attitude, be skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and have an aptitude for learning to use a variety of IT systems to manage, analyze, and transfer information.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

    Review and analyze external funding proposals and budgets for allowability, completeness and compliance within the framework of applicable guidelinesPrioritize and coordinate shared workload to meet work unit operation deadlinesObtain signature authority for submission of proposals on behalf of the University upon completion of accelerated trainingProvide expert advice and support to faculty and staff with sponsored contract and grant issues, interpreting federal, state, sponsor and University regulations, policies and proceduresUse multiple online systems for proposal and award managementAdvise and assist with preparation of proposal applications and budgets
    Advise University faculty and business staff on University proposal routing and sponsor submission procedures Additional duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Strong knowledge of PC applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, internet file upload, PDF forms, and e-mail
    Interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communicationStrong organizational and analytical skillsKnowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to proposal, grants, and contracts administrationKnowledge of accounting and budgetary principles, practices and proceduresEffectiveness in working under deadlines and heavy workloadsFlexibility to handle multiple different tasks on a daily basisHigh level of self-motivation and initiative

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Administration, Accounting or related field
  • Experience with UA Financial Systems and UA Research Systems
  • Some experience preparing proposals and budgets
  • Experience preparing proposals in Grants.gov, Research.gov, and other online application environments
  • Experience in contract/grant management
