Duties and Responsibilities:

The Care Coordinator manages all aspects of care of students in isolation to ensure their safety and wellbeing. The Care Coordinator coordinates with student(s) who may need to be transferred to a isolation residence hall and assist students who will be in isolation and quarantine on campus. The Care Coordinators are not responsible for going into a student’s room and retrieving belongings.

Duties and responsibilities include:

For students in isolation:
• Assigns a room and explains the policies and expectations of the isolation room.
• Notifies appropriate Dean of Students members. For students in shared bath/suitestyle housing, notifies any suitemates or other students to quarantine, as appropriate. Communication templates, developed and approved by the Wellness Center, will assist the Care Coordinator in their communications.
• Provides student(s) with Care Coordinator 24-hour call phone number and obtains the student(s) current cell number and emergency contact information.
• Care Coordinators will have access to an on-call medical provider at Wellness Center for consultation.
• Students in isolation/quarantine will monitor own temperatures. Care Coordinator conducts virtual symptom checks of student(s) placed in isolation.
• Symptom checks to be done either virtually with – Zoom telehealth appointments or in person with coordinator in personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assists student(s) and recommends controlling fever with fever reducing medications that are available over the counter to all students. Care Coordinator does not administer any medications to students. Students in need of fever reducing medication must have consultation with wellness center provider, who will approve the medication and document in electronic health record.
• Students who test positive for COVID-19 and are in isolation will be released from isolation in accordance with current CDC guidelines.
• Facilitates process for student(s) going home. Advises the Wellness Center Director of student’s disposition and notifies Dean of Students office for a medical leave. Notifies other relevant offices
• Consults with Wellness Center medical provider should students’ symptoms worsen. Arranges for transport to the nearest hospital (St. Joseph’s Hospital or St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, IL) if necessary and on the advice of the medical provider. Notifies the Wellness Center Director and student’s Emergency Contact(s).
• Ensures delivery of meals to students in isolation, coordinating with Dining Services Director or another identified dining staff supervisor.
• Oversees housekeeping needs in the isolation. Recommends to students that they continue to disinfect before and after using bathroom facilities, coordinating trash removal. Students in isolation will not have their bathroom cleaned during those 10 days until the room is vacated and turned over.
• Advocates with Dean of Students Office for sick leave in the event the student is too ill to participate in online learning options.
• Coordinates with the Director of Facilities for problems, supplies or other needs.
• Notifies Residence Life when a student has been removed from primary residence and when they are cleared to return to their primary residence hall. Coordinates with Dean of Students for student to resume classes.
• Other duties as assigned, or as guidance changes

For students in isolation/quarantine in regular residence hall:

• Provides student(s) with Care Coordinator 24-hour call phone number and obtains the student(s) current cell number and emergency contact information.
• Ensures delivery of meals to students in isolation/quarantine, coordinating with Dining Services Director or another identified dining staff supervisor.
• Provides instruction to students on connecting with Wellness Center staff, and other resources.
• Coordinates trash removal for student(s) in isolation or quarantine in residence halls
• Notify the Dean of Students of isolation/quarantine.
• Other duties as assigned, or as guidance changes
The Contact Tracing duties are responsibility for data management including coordination with state and local health departments, data security, and analysis.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:

1 year of related experience & CPR/BLS certification. Live In Required.

Qualifications:

Ability and willingness to reside in the assigned residence hall community (furnished 1-2 bedroom apartment) required.

Bachelor’s degree in student affairs, public health, nursing or other related field

Experience with residence life preferred.
• Experience with data collection, reporting, and analysis of data.
• Experience working with health related community organizations.
• Project management experience preferred

• Excellent communication skills.
• Data management and analysis skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.).
• Ability to show empathy and be nonjudgmental toward distressed individuals.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses:

The Coordinator/contact tracer must complete COVID-19 Contact Tracing, HIPAA and FERPA trainings and other trainings as needed.

Computer Skills:

• Data management and analysis skills.
• Proficiency in navigating computer systems; ability to learn new data systems quickly and to comply with data integrity and security to safeguard all personal identifiable information.
