Job Summary / Basic Function:

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: The HR Manager contributes to the mission and development employees as a model for professional competency and efficiency. This position will manage all aspects of human resources and will work to establish LIT’s own HR department. (LIT currently outsources human resources.) This position manages onboarding and exiting of employees, facilitates employee benefit options and is responsible for investigating grievance and discipline issues of employees. This position is also responsible for compliance training and the implementation of on-campus professional development initiatives for all levels of employees in conjunction with the Teaching and Learning Center. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Operations but the President has direct oversight of this position.

MAJOR ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Achieve TSUS Vision 2020 in Excellence to focus on recruiting of faculty talent.
2.Employee relations; and grievance and disciplinary procedures related to classified employees.
3.Manages employee relations to enhance productivity and performance.
4.Manages the employee performance evaluations process.
5.Maintains compliance training for all employees.
6.Prepares and distributes electronic employee communications; such as professional development opportunities and follow up announcements to campus community.
7.Onboarding of employees including verification of hiring packets and review of hiring practices followed by supervisors.
8.Exiting of employees after termination of employment.
9.Facilitating benefit options for new employees and current employees during summer enrollment.
10.Design performance management system.
11.Review and revise LIT Policy Manual.
12.Lead projects such as online time tracking and online hiring documents.
13.Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to needs of the Institute.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS: At least four years of related experience required. Preferred 2 years supervisory experience. Prior higher education preferred

2.Ability to take directions, initiative and work proactively in a team environment.
3.Ability to interact with all levels of staff diplomatically with professional discretion and confidentiality and high ethical standards.
4.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access). Banner and PeopleAdmin preferred.
5.Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment with students, staff, faculty, business and industry officials and the general public.
