To provide technical, graphical, and administrative support for the Bursar and other office personnel. This position exists to increase the efficiency of the Bursar's Office by utilizing computer and graphical technology. This position's primary responsibilities include developing graphic designs for artwork and publications to promote and improve communication from the Bursar's Office. This also includes maintaining the web site for the office.  This position maintains meetings and calendars for the Bursar & Bursar's Office Conference room. This position is also responsible for setting up the maintenance and production of the imaged documents for student fees. This position performs all Payroll functions, HR, invoices, supply inventory, purchasing, procurement card, deposits,  etc., in IRIS. This position is responsible for processing returned checks for the Knoxville Campus. The position of Administrative Specialist participates in meetings in an administrative capacity.

 

This position acts as a liaison for support during staff absences or peak periods. This position must be flexible and knowledgeable of most positions within the office. The position supports the Student Fees area by preparing ZK documents, running payment jobs, and other duties as needed. The position will also assist the fee area on an as-needed basis. According to state, federal, and institutional regulations, this position is responsible for collecting and posting student fees and disbursing excess financial aid. To process and answer inquiries regarding fee waivers, transcripts, parking violations, housing, proficiency exams, duplicate diploma fees, scholarships, services fees, graduation fees, and disbursement of State and Federal funds, following strict state and federal regulations guidelines. Assist Financial Specialist I by preparing Athletic stipend checks and SAOF awards.

 



QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

High school Diploma; Three to five years experience in a financial or human resource setting.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of customer service skills, communication skills (both oral and written), Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, TouchNet, Argos and web design.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with little or no supervision and the ability to prioritize work to insure deadlines are met.
  • Requires investigative and decision making skills.
  • Must have the ability to review appeals and respond to student/authorized user in a clear and concise method to explain University policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field of study.

Experience in higher education is preferred.

Experience in Student Financial Services is preferred.
