DescriptionFinancial Specialist IThe Financial Specialist coordinates and executes all purchasing related activities for the Department of University Housing including, but not limited to: maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment, office supplies, and computer hardware/software. The Financial Coordinator is responsible for developing bid specifications and documentation for the aforementioned items. In addition, the Financial Specialist reviews and analyzes vendor bid submittals, develops bid award recommendations, and coordinates the contract renewal process for a variety of supply/materials/software contracts in which the department of University Housing is a party. The Financial Specialist serves as primary liaison between the Department of University Housing, UT Purchasing Department, UT Office of the Treasurer, and the UT Office of General Council in matters related to purchasing and service contracts.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS:Education:Associates DegreeExpereince:3 years of purchasing experience in a large, complex organization.Preferred level/type of experience:3+ years experience in the construction trades, building maintenance, and custodial operations; 3+ years of purchasing experience within the aforementioned areas.Competencies/Qualifications:Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work with diverse constituencies; Ability to effectively utilize computer technology including Microsoft Office suite of products; Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment; Ability to be detail oriented; Ability to work with minimal supervision; Thorough knowledge of institutional and state purchasing policies and procedures.
