Occupational Summary

This position is with the Campus Grants Management Team,a dynamic and growing unit in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research,which provides crad le-to-grave grant management services for specificallyidentified departm ents. CGMT is comprised of highlyskilled research administrators t hat provide faculty and researchers in theProvost area units with seamle ss, high-quality sponsored researchadministration services. Our goal is to enhance communication and fosterpartnerships with faculty and staff a s invested partners in thegrants-management process in order to deliver best-in-class grants portfoliomanagement. Administrators are responsible for directing and managing theproposal process to ensure timely, compli ant, and accurate submissions,including budget development, interpretati on of sponsor requirements, andinstitutional review and signature. Post- award management services includeaward management, financial reporting a nd project closeout.

Pre-award activities include assisting departmentalfaculty/PI in the dev elopment, preparation, and submission of researchproposals. Ensure all a pplications meet agency and university guidelines,published time tables and deadlines. Ensure proposals are entered and routed ina timely manner for further review. Post-award activities include detailedreconciliatio n of assigned project budgets, preparing complex budget reports,preparin g adjustments and corrections in assigned project budgets and closingout projectsin line with university and sponsor guidelines.

Th is position is responsible formanaging and overseeing an assigned portfo lio of complex grants and contracts with a firm grasp of rulesand regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills. The successfulc andidate for this position will be someone with a strong analytical back groundand someone who is a high level excel user.

Pre Award Job R esponsibilities

· Prepareand submit grants and contract through pre-aw ard process utilizing both Sponsorand Duke regulations.

·

Advisethe faculty/PI on administrative requirements in preparing proposalsubmissions.< /p>

·Prepare,coord inate and review proposal elements such as biosketches, budget, justific ationsand facilities & resources for consistency, accuracy, and comp leteness.

·Monitorcompliance with agency and University regulations regarding s ubmission; verifyall financial information, including the application of the appropriateoverhead rate for the project.
