ED Tech I - Duke University Health System

Responsibilities:

The ED Tech I performs a variety of routine patient care tasks under the direction of nursing staff to assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment and care of patients; may perform a variety of clerical tasks and other technical tasks as assigned.

What you will do:

  • Perform CPR.
  • Function as patient attendant for risk-identified patients.
  • Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as required.
  • Collect, deliver and conduct routine tests on patient specimens.
  • Escort or transport patients that do not require any hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Clean assign areas; stock and replenish supplies and equipment as required.
  • Perform a variety of EKG technician tasks as required, to include: routine and STAT EKGs, order verification and electronic transmission of EKGs, accommodation of special EKG requests, i.e., with or without magnet or right sided EKG tracings, the stocking and maintenance of EKG machines, and the retrieval of old EKGs from the Heart Station.
  • Maintain “readiness” of HAZMAT Room. Provide assistance during hazmat decontamination procedures.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

What you will need:

    Current Nurse Aide I Registry listing with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Service Regulation.
OR

NC EMT License

    High School/ GED Diploma or higher. Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
