Through its national and international affiliations, the University links Southwest Georgia with the global economy and actively fosters a greater understanding of international business and culture.Job Summary The College of Education at Georgia Southwestern State University is seeking to fill a position for Assistant Professor in the field of Teacher Education, with a cross disciplinary record of research and training in elementary education, special education, middle grades or secondary education. This is a 10-month, tenure track appointment. The position is open for applicants with a start date of August 2021. The individual selected for this position will be expected to (1) teach undergraduate courses as assigned, (2) teach graduate courses, as assigned, consistent with the candidate’s expertise and qualifications; (3) advise undergraduate students; (4) provide service to the College of Education and university, and (5) maintain an active research agenda. The College of Education is accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Education, or a closely related fieldK-12 teaching experienceRecord of cross disciplinary research and training, including but not limited to elementary education, special education, Middle grades, etc.
- Demonstrated effectiveness developing and delivering high quality instruction, both face to face and online
- Evidence of exemplary College/University teaching experienceExperience supervising candidates in practicum and internships
- Commitment to growing partnerships, student mentorship, and scholarly and professional engagement
