The Advancement and Alumni Relations office is responsible for fundraising and alumni engagement effort for the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, which includes the Varsity Blues intercollegiate sports programs. The advancement staff work to solicit financial contributions to support the Faculty and its academic and co-curricular priorities. Through a range of programs, events and special initiatives, we raise awareness among current and prospective donors, alumni, volunteers and funds regarding the importance of investing in the Faculty and our students. Our office engages in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with all stakeholders and building of on the positive associations our alumni have with the University.

Your Opportunity

Under the general direction of the Director, Advancement, the incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the Faculty’s alumni activities and manages the academic and athletic annual giving and Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) programs. The incumbent researches, identifies prospects, cultivates and writes proposals for individuals who are capable of making major gifts up to $1 million. The incumbent also co-ordinates and implements activities that are associated with the Faculty’s advancement campaigns

In collaboration with appropriate staff in the Faculty, the Department of University Advancement (DUA), and key volunteers, the incumbent assists with the design and implementation of procedures for the Faculty’s alumni activities and the Faculty’s Alumni Communications. Manages the Faculty’s alumni programs, oversees volunteer recruitment and retention and recommends Alumni for the Faculty’s governance committees by building relationships in person, by mail and/or phone and through recognition programs. Represents the Faculty when requested at T-Holder and other alumni meetings. Works with key volunteers and Faculty colleagues to facilitate the delivery of alumni programs as appropriate. Communicates regularly with key volunteers.


University Degree in Kinesiology or Physical Education or equivalent combination of education and experience, professional training in public relations and advancement preferred.


    Minimum 5 years of related experience including managing annual giving programs in excess of $300,000/year, alumni relations and experience researching and developing proposals. Experience directing the work of staff, preferably in a unionized environment. Gift solicitation up to $25,000 and managing events are strong assets.


    Superior written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and interact with a diverse cliental by phone and in person. Well-developed time management skills, strong organizational skills and ability to manage details while maintaining a broader, strategic perspective. Demonstrated superior computer skills in MS Word and Excel. Experience using DIS is an asset. Knowledge of physical activity and sport is a strong asset. Knowledge of University Athletic and Recreation programs and of the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education academic program is an asset.Good Analytical ability; ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines required.
