About Us   The Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) is a unit within the Office of the Provost at Georgia Tech. CEISMC serves as the primary connection point between Georgia Tech faculty and students and the preK-12 STEM education community.

 

Job Summary  

Develop and coordinate the implementation of programs designed to promote the Institute to target audiences of potential and enrolled students and other groups thereby encouraging their enrollment and retention at the Institute and/or a program within the Institute. Efforts include program needs assessment, concept definition, program development, marketing and evaluation. This position will interact on a consistent basis with:  target group prospects and students, institutional and program administrators, Institute faculty and staff.  This position typically will advise and counsel:  target group prospects and students, institutional and program administrators.  This position will supervise:  NA (may supervise student assistants and/or volunteers).

Responsibilities  

Job Duty 1 -
Analyze outreach objectives and assess needs in the way of program components and resources.

Define specific program objectives and develop implementation plans.

Job Duty 3 -
Coordinate program implementation including directing stages required to meet program objectives.

Develop communications and marketing materials that support program objectives.

Plan, schedule and manage program promotional events.

Job Duty 6 -
Participate in conferences and other meetings and events that  promote program participation and provide promotional opportunities.

Job Duty 7 -
Assess, evaluated and report on program results relative to expectations.

Job Duty 8 -
Administer program budgets and maintain supply of program materials.

Job Duty 9 -
Develop programs to retain students in target groups.

Responsibilities   Educational Outreach Manager I

 

  • Prepare and assemble educational/promotional materials, press releases, and other written materials related to Georgia Tech K-12 Outreach. Make arrangements for meetings, camps, professional development sessions, workshops and other events in conjunction with specific outreach programs. Coordinate year-long and campus-wide internal and public facing calendar for outreach related events. Make travel arrangements for outreach staff, presenters, and participants Perform administrative support functions for outreach programs including preparing correspondence, ordering/maintaining supplies, maintaining recruitment and participant databases, collecting metrics and performance data updating website etc. Provide support in the planning and organization of staff trainings, youth programs special events, and family engagement events. Recruit staff and volunteers for meetings, workshops and other events in conjunction with specific outreach programs. Coordinate and plan outreach and professional development activities with Georgia Tech faculty and students Assist in the preparation and submission of funding proposals. Assist in data collection and preparation of the Annual Report on Georgia Tech STEM Outreach. Work closely with Office of Youth Programs (legal) to maintain and publicize current regulations and policies regarding minors on campus and youth programs.

Required Qualifications  

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience

SKILLS
This job requires a working knowledge of marketing and educational outreach related program planning and design, especially as it relates to assigned target group of potential and/or enrolled students.  Also required are skills in maintaining a detail orientation, organization, presentation, customer relations and communications.

Other Required Qualifications
Weekends and evenings may be required for special events, dinners, football games, etc; some travel

Preferred Qualifications   Additional Preferred Qualifications
Ability to coordinate activities among diverse groups and stakeholders is preferred. Fluency in a second language may be preferred

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in STEAM or STEM-related field 

 

Specialized skills preferred:

 

Ability to coordinate activities among diverse groups and stakeholders is preferred. Experience working with populations historically under-represented in STEM. Capacity to manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy. Excellent writing, editing, proof-reading and organizational skills.

Other Information   OTHER VARIABLES:

 

This position is responsible for providing administrative support for CEISMC K-12 outreach programs and activities across the Georgia Tech campus. Position works a flexible schedule to include some evening and weekend hours. 

 

You may be interacting with minors and must adhere to all regulatory compliance issues while working with CEISMC including but not limited to a criminal background check, appropriate pre-screening and training on working with minors.
