Position Emphasis: 

The Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School Of Medicine has a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Pediatric General Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP). Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides inpatient and outpatient medical care services at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO).

The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services primarily for in the Children’s Hospital of Colorado Level IV Neonatal ICU.  Duties will include primarily inpatient responsibilities related to acute care, trauma and burn patients such as rounding, writing orders/progress notes, consults, discharge, patient assessment, patient education, care coordination, disease management and minor procedures. Close collaboration with pediatric general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists, residents/fellows and hospital staff will be necessary. Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and primary care providers is essential. The candidate will provide care to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, acute care areas, and in the outpatient clinics.  The work schedule may include up to 13hr shifts, weekends, and holidays.

 

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $115,000 - $125,000.   

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.  The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master's degree in Nursing and/or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practioner) and the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant)
  •  Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and/or Physican assistant with prescriptive privileges in the state of Colorado (of those candidates with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner degree, an acute care certification is required)
  • Current ATLS or successful completion within one year of hire.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in general surgery, neonatal surgery, critical care, and pediatrics preferred.

First assist or surgical assist certification and experience preferred.
