Nature of Work

Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology, Melanoma Research Program has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant.  We aim to find treatment options for melanoma patients wo do not respond to standard of care. The focus for this position is to help explore the therapeutic potential of BH3 mimetics to treat melanomas from patients lacking other options. As part of research team, the main role of this position is to obtain sufficient laboratory data for us to move these treatments into clinical trials as soon as possible and to obtain support from industry and NIH.

Position Emphasis:

This is a full time position, and the work location is Anschutz Medical Campus. The duties of this position include, but not limited to, culture of mammalian cells, ATP viability assays, caspase activation assays, sphere assays, microscopy, cell biology techniques including experiments with Incucyte analyses, data analyses and manuscript preparation.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

•           Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree

•           Prior successful experiences working with tissue cultures, plate readers for viability assays, sphere assays, basic microscopy, Incucyte experimental setup and data analyses

•           Proficient with Prism software

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

•           Strong work ethic and excellent team communication skills

•           Able to keep detailed documentation and meet deadlines for experiments and literature research

•           Strong scientific writing skills and reliable organizational skills 

•           Able to work independently and efficiently, as well as in a team setting

•           Knowledge and experiences in regulation of apoptosis

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•           Prior successful experiences in manuscript preparation, demonstrated as a co-author on a publication in peer-reviewed scientific Journals
