Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This a temporary or on-call position. Provides clerical support. Responsibilities may include secretarial, receptionist, bookkeeping, information processing or related clerical tasks. Temps On-Campus: includes College of Human Medicine, the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Detroit Medical Center, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Macomb University CenterTerm. On campus temps can work six (6) months then terminate for three (3) months or switch to an oncall. Off campus temps can continuously work nine(9) month appointment with a one (1) week break in between. On-Call allowed to work up to 40 hours/week for three (3) months then must be moved down to 19 hours/week and cannot work more than 520 hours in any six (6) month period.

Unit Position Summary

This year the Community Engagement Scholar Program has one position available for Spring 2021 to serve with the City of Lansing. This Scholar will work alongside their community partner to develop innovative discourse and strategic imperatives for community outreach and engagement, and support organizational capacity building. An ideal applicant for this position must have at least one semester of previous engagement with the program, experience with the City of Lansing, Mayor’s Office, availability to serve virtually 12-15 hours a week.

Desired Qualifications
  • No less than a 12 hour/week commitment at partner site or virtual with partner (if necessary or available)
  • Transportation resources provided when necessary
  • Cohort meetings twice monthly (on Saturdays) for professional development and reflective learning. Cohort meetings are mandatory. Virtual until further notice.
  • Pre-engagement Training and Orientation Required
  • At least one semester experience as a community engagement scholar
