Job Description
The University Admissions office is a dynamic environment which requires dedicated professionals to engage, excite, and enroll qualified students to the University to help meet enrollment goals. The Manager role is an important position within this office. This position is responsible for engaging and working with prospective graduate and transfer students and their family members, throughout the school selection and application process. An individual in this position will work closely with the Assistant Director for Transfer and Graduate Recruitment on all aspects of recruitment and events. The Manager is needed to develop strong communication and relationships with both on and off campus partners, while leading a team of recruiters. The Manager is intended to serve as the lead for the transfer and graduate team, including recruitment efforts, event management, and overall strategy development. This position is responsible for the following:
- Cultivates and manages a recruitment calendar and strategy to recruit qualified transfer and graduate students to the University.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates Student Recruitment Coordinators and/or Senior Student Recruitment Coordinators responsible for transfer and graduate student recruitment.
- Collaborates with the Recruitment Leadership Team within the University Admissions office by participating in strategic recruitment planning and staffing decisions.
- Works in coordination with other key individuals within the University Admissions office and University to meet enrollment and scholarship goals for the University.
- Assists with the execution of on-campus visit programs as needed, including but not limited to Graduate Info Sessions, Transfer Visit Day, Transfer Fridays, Discover NAU, Explore Honors Day, Multicultural Recruitment Programs, and other student programming.
- Interprets university policies and recommends changes to policies and/or procedures.
- Assists with necessary research to verify residency status, admission status, or status of transfer credit.
- Works with entry level Student Recruitment Coordinators to help them develop an understanding of ways to collect and analyze data in their respective recruitment territory or territories.
- Uses reports through Business Objects, Enterprise Reporting, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce to analyze and report on effectiveness of recruitment efforts in their respective territory and events. Provides reporting to supervisor and discusses effectiveness of strategies.
- Collects and analyzes data to determine effectiveness of recruitment activities.
- Evaluates program effectiveness, assesses outcomes, and develops improved programming to achieve goals, complete cost analyses for programs/events.
- Create and expand on- and off-campus transfer and graduate student events.
- Counsel, guide, and advise prospective students and families in the completion of complex admission and financial aid forms, admission requirements- undergraduate and graduate, transfer guidelines, cost of attendance, financial aid programs, and various other student and enrollment related services, programs and opportunities.
- Stays current on local, regional, and national trends pertaining to transfer and graduate recruitment.
- Attend graduate and transfer statewide, regional, and national recruitment events.
- Knowledge of campus programs for both the undergraduate and graduate degree level.
- Represents the University, its mission, policies, and procedures to a broad range of constituents including those in segments of the education community, prospective students and families, community-based organizations, other universities, etc.
- Provides presentations to a multitude of individuals and groups to communicate the vision, mission, values, and programs of the University.
- Serves as a liaison to academic colleges and departments and collects important information and updates from our academic partners. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with academic partners.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required and two years of related professional experience, OR
- Master’s degree in education, business, or other related field is preferred and one year of related professional experience, OR
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of admission and enrollment management practices in higher education.
- The ability to work effectively with prospective students, continuing students, parents, alumni, other university administrators and faculty, high school administrators, faculty, and counselors.
- A broad understanding of regional and national issues pertaining to higher education, as well as an appreciation for the value that higher education provides for individuals and society.
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to areas of assignment (transfer and graduate).
- Knowledge of SalesForce CRM, PeopleSoft Student Information System, Business Objects and Enterprise Reporting tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices pertaining to Admissions and Orientation, as well as, Enrollment Management.
- Knowledge of organizational development and management best practices.
- Demonstrated skill set in the coordination of projects and programs.
- Skill in problem solving and decision making.
- Demonstrated skill to prioritize individual work tasks, but also to assist supervisees in prioritizing work tasks.
- Demonstrated skill in both verbal and written communication.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and productive working relationships with on-campus and off-campus partners.
- Skill in program development and execution.
- Strong organizational and training/human development skills.
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Background Information
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary
The budgeted salary amount is $49,000.
**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service.
Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of employment.
