Anticipated to be a 6-month temporary assignment.

We are seeking a temporary Compliance Coordinator to work out of our headquarters in Santa Barbara on a temporary full-time 37.5-hour per week basis, although a request for part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate. Due to COVID-19, employment will be working from home until we can safely open our Santa Barbara office.
The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for researching individual state requirements for authorization of Fielding’s programs and for ensuring that compliance issues and concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved. They will conduct risk assessments programs in each state to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk. The Coordinator is responsible for initiating communications with and tracking and coordinating responses from state regulatory agencies and working with University leaders to develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of areas of concern. They will work with University leaders to write policies and procedures to ensure alignment with applicable federal and state regulations. The Coordinator will keep apprised of all laws, regulations, statutes, rules and policies affecting Fielding for each program within the university’s course catalogue. They will be in communication as needed with diverse stakeholders to ensure compliance, maintain integrity of data, and provide reports on a regular or ad hoc basis.
The ideal candidate will possess a professional, collaborative, and upbeat approach to their work. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines are all essential to success in the role. This position will require a high attention to detail and to ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive data. Applicants should have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and database applications. The position requires the ability to consistently follow procedures and to communicate clearly via phone and email. Minimum position requirements include the following.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A JD or Master’s degree (paralegal) or a Certified Paralegal (CP) credential preferred.
• Minimum 7 years’ work experience, preferably in state authorization or higher education compliance.
• Strong project management skills paired with the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources.
• Acute attention to detail and a focus on efficiency and systems building.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to elicit interdepartmental collaboration.
