This position is responsible for the planning, design, development, security, integrating and/or enhancement of the information technology architecture supporting the University’s Linux/Unix server environment and associated services. This includes ensuring the University is capable of adapting to changes and advancements in technology and information access. The successful candidate must be able to; understand how to maintain and deploy Linux/Unix systems, DNS, Active Directory, and other core infrastructure components in an enterprise environment. This also includes Linux based appliances and third party hardware. Analyze inefficiencies in the enterprise from a holistic view, diagnose and delegate problems as they arise with little direction, collaborate across teams on detailed technical requirements, implementation approaches and problem solving, interface with Project Management and Engineering teams; translate requirements, usability and support observations into enhancement requests. Ability to analyze problems independently, research potential technical solutions, evaluates alternatives, and present recommendations to the leadership team. Develop a roadmap for the continued improvement and operation of the production environment.Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in IT related Field and 6 years related experience. Extensive understanding of Linux/Unix enterprise systems. Five years Systems Administrator Experience with an emphasis on Linux related operating systems. Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends. Competent to perform at the highest technical level of system design. Ability to advise management on risk analysis and risk mitigation strategies. Ability to work with a technical team comprised of internal and external resources.
Excellent Verbal and written communication skill. Extensive experience with Microsoft technologies.
Knowledge and experience in computer networking, system configuration and database platforms.
Knowledge and experience with load balancing solutions, specifically the F5.
Knowledge and experience with system backups using the Veeam backup solution.
Knowledge and experience with configuration management solution, specifically Puppet.
Knowledge and experience with system monitoring solutions, specifically Zabbix.
Knowledge and experience with scripting to support automation of processes.
Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity and vulnerability/patch management.
Knowledge and experience with Single-Sign-On (SSO).
Knowledge and experience in the resource management and capacity planning in the areas of virtualization, storage, networking and server capacity.

This position must be able to lift 40 pounds and work under somewhat adverse conditions at times. This position is expected to comply with the University’s standard working hours. In addition, this position must be available outside of normal working hours, including nights and weekends, to complete routine maintenance, or respond to emergency system outages.
