Nature of Work:

The primary focus of this position is to provide constant patrol of the campus and respond to calls for service and building security.

Major essential duties are: securing the campus buildings at the times designated by the Deputy Director, patrolling assigned areas, responding to reports of crime, collecting, recording and securing evidence at crime scenes, interviewing persons involved, writing reports, and making arrests.
Additional essential duties are: assisting motorists, assisting ill and injured people, enforcing parking regulations, testifying in court, securing buildings, serving as back-up dispatcher, enforcing residence hall regulations, assisting the Criminal Investigations Divisions and local law enforcement agencies as needed, serving criminal warrants and other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

This position requires at least a high school diploma and eligibility for certification by the Georgia POST. Must be able to communicate in an effective manner. Ability to work overtime if needed and possession of reliable transportation is required. Must possess the ability to utilize the computer system in the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

An Associate’s degree or two years towards a bachelor degree in criminal justice or related field and at least 2 year sas a certified police officer.

Experience as a certified police officer is also a preference for this position.


$17.14/hrly (minimum) - $22.38/hrly (midpoint)

Physical Agility Test may be required.
