Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration with two years' of experience in the business, information technology/cyber security industry or a closely-related industry

  • Familiarity and experience using social media in a work environment
Responsibilities The Industry Engagement Strategist will work with the Georgia Center of Innovation for Information Technology (COIIT), Augusta University (AU) and the Georgia Cyber Center (GCC) to connect existing Georgia companies and communities to cyber resources statewide and specifically to facilitate opportunities available at the Georgia Cyber Center. The mission of the Georgia Cyber Center (GCC), hosted by Augusta University (AU), is to cultivate an ecosystem where the combined talent of government, academia and private industry will: deliver affordable and relevant training/education; develop the region's cybersecurity workforce; solve complex cybersecurity challenges; and offer unbiased advice to policy-makers in order to provide our state and the nation with a decisive advantage in cyberspace. The mission of the Georgia Centers of Innovation (COI), a program of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is to provide leading technical industry expertise, research collaborations and business partnerships to help the state's strategic industries connect, compete and grow. That mission entails extensive interaction with local industry, the GDEcD, the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), other Georgia state departments, local economic development organizations and local community leaders. This position has a unique reporting relationship because the position is housed in Georgia Cyber Center with the employment and benefits package offered through Augusta University. Due to this position being partially funded by the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) through a contract with Augusta University (AU), the position has a dual supervisory relationship with the Executive Director of the Georgia Center of Innovation for Information Technology (COIIT) and the Executive Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development at Augusta University. The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Industry Assist: Connect industry within Georgia and national resourced by working closely with client companies to determine their needs, applicable resources and connect the client with those resources. Respond to requests from industry for information and assistance, communicate and coordinate with entities to gather information and provide contacts in response to industry requests in the following areas:
    • University Research & Development
    • Professional Education
    • Technical Education
    • Workforce Training
    • Other State Organizations
    • Federal Agencies
    • Industry Information
    • Business to Business Connections
    • Defense Industry
  • Innovation Projects: Develop cooperative innovation projects to assist with commercialization of new products, processes and business models. Track collaboration and project activities using Salesforce CRM software as part of the monthly metric collection efforts.
  • Industry Forums & Meetings: Bring industry together to provide vision and focus to the major opportunities for Georgia to accelerate industry growth. Provide support to the COIIT and the GCC forums and represent COIIT at other local events and meetings.
  • Consortia & Technology Working Groups: Connect industry, academia and government to develop focused activities in high potential technology areas and provide support of COIIT and GCC sponsored working groups.
  • Innovation Grants: Grants funded by the One Georgia Authority for development of new products, services and business models
  • General Administrative Duties: General administrative duties include submitting all administrative requests to Georgia Cyber Center staff using the appropriate processes and procedures and responding to requests from other Georgia state government agencies and offices.
  • Other Duties: Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
