Minimum Requirements Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experienceKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
  • Willingness and ability to work with research animals
Preferred
  • Experience in vivo and in vitro metabolic and physiologic measures in rodents
  • Experience with confocal microscopy and ability to perform rodent surgery
Responsibilities The candidate will perform complex experiments and conducts data analysis of results while maintaining quality control and sample catalog. He/she will assist in developing research protocols, perform animal surgery, daily collection and tabulation of data, and compiling reports. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform complex experiments and conducts data analysis related to producing research results and preparing findings for future development
  • Coordinate administrative and technical arrangements of animal models and maintains records related to use
  • Uses independent judgement in the daily operation of the lab to ensure safe and efficient use of resources
  • Monitors use of resources to ensure compliance with Federal guidelines and institutional protocols
  • Assists PI with data preparation for grant applications and renewals
  • Participates in the tracking and monitoring of budgetary resources to ensure effective lab operations
  • Participates actively in the composition, editing, and publication of research findings
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
