The Staff Nurse possesses knowledge regarding State, Federal, VA and The Joint Commission guidelines governing long term care. This person is responsible for supervising employees in all nursing units. The person in this role ensures that individualized quality patient care is provided for all patients and serves as the supervisor for the facility.
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Patient Care: Assists nursing personnel in the administration for total patient care and serve as Charge Nurse or Medication Nurse for a nursing unit as assigned. Serve as Supervisor for the facility as needed. Provides support to nursing unit/staff throughout the facility. Assess patients as needed and contact Physician, as needed.Nursing Supervisor: Serve as Nursing Supervisor for the facility. Provide support to nursing staff throughout the facility. Assess patients as needed and contact Physician, as indicated.Resources: Provide direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources.Problem Solving: Participate in problem solving affecting the care of patients with complex needs by assisting in the development of individualized patient care plans. Assess progress made toward objective goals. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to affect the efficiency of nursing careEmergencies: Respond to emergency situations by initiating emergency procedures and documenting proper records of emergency care provided.Other Duties: Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
